This takes care of the issue and I can stay stay inside Inkscape. As an experiment, I went back into Inkscape, selected all the segments, and then used the Add Nodes extension and increased the number of nodes by a factor of 10. I noticed that there was a file size difference between the Inkscape DXF output and CorelDraw DXF output. When I imported the same DXF into CorelDraw it looked great, so I re-exported it from CorelDraw, imported that file into Diptrace, and it looked great. I exported the shape from Inkscape and then imported into Diptrace and it looked very chunky. My preference, though, would be the use of Inkcsape for odd board shapes like this because I am comfortable with it and use it day-to-dat. With home/shop etched boards, they they are manually ground to shape so we need an accurate guide. I always center my PCB designs on 0, 0 so centering the drawing in the DXF document makes things clean.ĭoing this gives me clean curves (actually, a lot of small segments) that look good.

I use the PCB-Fab-In-A-Box system from Pulsar Pro to make my quick PCBs (. It's a tiny bit convoluted, but I found a solution - I used this to create the PCB in the attached image in a couple hours (DXF to layout to etched in my kitchen and ready for soldering). I've had two emergency projects in the last week and struggled because Diptrace didn't like the DXF files I was getting from the FX shop. What typically happens is I get a DXF file from an FX engineer that specifies the PCB shape and where he needs parts (usually LEDs).
